Screencaps:

Review: Another spoof of 50's B movies. This time it's space aliens from Venus who have taken over a small town in Michigan. Think Invaders from Mars (1953) but with much less of a plot.

From Venus is too dark, has terrible audio, is badly acted, and just isn't funny. Those are the good points too. The pacing is horribly slow and is made worse by being broken up into parts with a pointless wraparound story.

It's hard to believe, but the short sections with Arthur (David Borowicz) are less entertaining than what he's supposed to be reading in the comicbook. Even the comedic double-act of the army guys, Franklin (DJ Perry) and Russ (Michael Melik Brown), has a couple of amusing moments although they aren't at all memorable.

The girls seem to be an attractive group especially in their dominatrix outfits, but owing to the poor quality of the VHS transfer, it's too hard to tell. I don't know if there's a clearer version to buy separately or if this is the best that's available. Either way, it's not worth tracking down because From Venus will still be terrible.

The tragedy is that with better production values and people who knew what they were doing, From Venus might have been okay.

Most Memorable Moment(s): The stuff after the final credits.

Originality: None.

Best Line(s): 'I'm not going in there. It's liable to be run by some chainsaw-wielding maniac."
Worst Line(s): "Men. To be had not heard."

Best Effect(s): The Avatrix's magical lightning.
Worst Effect(s): The laser gun.
