Review: Is this the same movie as The River: Legend of La Llorona from the "Decrepit Crypt of Nightmares" pack? No, but it is a weaker sequel starring most of the same cast.

Starting off with a hot but softcore sex scene while the windy demons from The Evil Dead (1981) shakycam their way around outside, Revenge of La Llorona doesn't seem very original. But just give it a few more seconds for La Llorona (Mary Sanchez) to appear and things perk up (both literally and figuratively).

Jim Andrews, who plays Royce, also provides so many over-the-top racist and sexist insults that he's hilarious. Coupled with the bad acting and feeble delivery of the supporting cast who can't defend themselves so eloquently, he really shines.

Other great moments include all the girls in this movie getting their boobs out eventually, and some shockingly awful special effects. Obviously there was hardly any budget worth mentioning, but the end result is still unnecessarily bad. It's a shame really because there was potential for some genuine scares which are just ruined by inept filmmaking.

The funny thing is that the story works in spite of everyone's attempts to spoil it with unintentional comedy, and it's rather entertaining. I want to see the rest of the trilogy now.

Most Memorable Moment(s): Just about everything that comes out of Jim Andrew's mouth.

Originality: Borrows heavily from The Evil Dead at the beginning.

Best Line(s): "No offence, but the more you talk, the stranger you become."
Worst Line(s): "Wait. Did you say, 'A Woman'?"

Best Effect(s): Eduardo's pecker.
Worst Effect(s): Doug's spray of blood.
