Review: Season in Hell is simply one of the worst horror movies that I have ever seen. It's so badly edited together with too many bizarre effects and background audio which drowns out the actors' voices that it's virtually unwatchable.

Allegedly, Season in Hell is meant to be "a surreal psychedelic homage to the '70s era of horror films". In reality, it's just a mess with bad acting, lots of blood but only laughable effects for the gore, and the merest hint of a story which makes no sense anyway.

The torture scenes are uninspired, the kills are off camera, and the whole redneck psycho who kidnaps and tortures lost strangers has been done to death. Making him the Devil incarnate just makes the events more farcical.

In the right hands, this could have been a chilling psychological thriller set during the Apocalypse. Unfortunately, it's just a poor excuse for torture porn, and they just had to make it too arty-farty for its own good.

Some of the girls are nice to look at though.
